Story

I have loved the idea of Dresden Plates since I began quilting and have wanted to make a Dresden quilt for MCC for many years. Making the plates themselves was much easier than I thought it would be. Embroidering each of those "flowers" onto the whole cloth, however, took me the better part of six months. They are secured once with machine stitches and a second time with hand buttonhole stitch and a third time with hand stitches to make sure the points of the "flowers" stayed crisp. I'm happy with the end result so it was definitely worth the extra effort. Thank you to Edna Martin and the Hawkesville Mennonite Sewing Circle for their spectacular hand quilting, as always. Final sale price $1,400.
