My name is Shelby Steckly: I am just your average university student, currently studying Biochemistry at the University of Waterloo. Quilting is my creative outlet; after a long week of classes, labs and exams there is nothing that I find more relaxing than sitting down with my sewing machine or my quilts. When I took up quilting at the age of 18, I had a goal of one day donating a quilt to the Relief Sale. With the help of my quilt mentor, Louise Miller, I have finally achieved the goal. This quilt represents my third completed quilt and my first donation to the Relief Sale (hopefully the first of many!) My next goal is to one day serve on the quilt board of the Relief Sale in a greater capacity; in the meantime please feel free to stop and say hello to me: I will most likely be one of the happy volunteers giving out bidder numbers on the day of the Relief Sale.
