Appliqued & pieced
The pattern for this quilt is called "Dear Jane" because it is based on a quilt made by Jane Austen. In between writing "Pride and Prejudice", revolutionizing the modern novel and inventing the "free indirect speech" narrative style, Austin was an avid quilter. This quilt is also made of William Morris reproduction fabrics. As a librarian, imagining these two having a conversation delights me. The applique patterns are from "More William Morris Applique.
