PiecedĀ by Alan

Since participants vary from week to week, we do not have all the names of the quilters except for 76-year old Carlos, who comes faithfully each week. We have often talked to the men about New Hamburg Mennonite Relief Sale and they were interested in donating a quilt. The stitches in this quilt are not as perfect or refined as those in the traditional quilts sold on the NHMRS auction block. However each stitch represents the determined effort required by each of these men to reconnect the fragmented pieces of their lives. A Stitch in Time, is a quilt making activity, which began in Jan 2010, in Montreal. Its purpose is to provide a structured setting for ex-inmates in transition from QC Federal prisons to the community. Many of these men have mental health issues, so it is even more difficult for them to integrate to life on the outside.
