New at the sale this year: Bunyaad rugs

A red square with a white outline of a town shows the logo of Ten Thousand Villages.

Ten Thousand Villages Cobourg is always excited to bring fair trade shopping back to the heart of fair trade country in New Hamburg during the Relief Sale, and this year we have an extra special surprise: hand-knotted Bunyaad rugs will also make a return with us!

The former New Hamburg Ten Thousand Villages store was the home of Bunyaad rugs for many years and this will be the first time that they are coming back to the area in four years. The Cobourg store is currently hosting a month-long rug event with over 250 rugs of all sizes and styles from 2’x3’ to 9’x12’ - and all of these rugs will be coming to New Hamburg on May 24-25. Bunyaad Directors Yousaf Chaman and Jenni Leister will load the rugs in Cobourg and journey with us to New Hamburg for a full rug event display in one of the rooms under the grandstand.

With the former Waterloo and New Hamburg stores both being a major centre for rug sales over the years, these rugs are well known in the area. Bunyaad’s rug program supports more than 850 families in rural Pakistan as well as several elementary schools.

You can learn all about the program by watching a 15 minute video on the Bunyaad website and then you can jump over to view all the rugs that will be coming to New Hamburg for the event. Just use the links below.
