Story

This quilt was purchased at the first Relief Sale in 1967. It was Canada's Centennial Year and quilters were challenged to make quilts celebrating the milestone. The maker of the quilt put the dates 1867 and 1967 in the corners of the quilt. It is a lovely appliqued quilt with pink flowers, leaves and branches. It was purchased by Helen Rempel and her late husband Peter, who many of you will remember through their involvement with the early thrift stores. Helen re-donated this quilt to the 45th Relief Sale in 2011. It sold for $40.00 in 1967. Vernon Cressman bought it in 2011 for $500.00. He has donated it back with the plan for it to be sold again in 2017, the year of Canada's 150th Anniversary of Confederation.
