We are excited to present 'Star Struck' for this, our 6th year donating to the New Hamburg Mennonite Relief Sale quilt auction. The Friendship Star blocks, upon which this quilt is based, reach out to those around them, creating a strong, interwoven latticework. Final sale price $850.

In pioneer times quilts were often gifted to women as they prepared for the journey west and the difficult homesteading days that lay ahead. Individual Friendship Star blocks, sewn and signed by relatives and friends, and united in a quilt, provided comforting reminders of loved ones left behind.

The Friendship Stars in 'Star Struck' represent the intertwining of our lives through the creation of our MCC quilts. Our lives have been enriched by what we have learned; people we have met and friendships we have developed. Through our quilts we reach out to others we will never meet, both the purchasers and those in need around the globe, in a joint effort to enrich their lives as well.
